Military-Vehicles: [MV] M880 series

[MV] M880 series

I think I've been misunderstood. I actually like the Dode M880 series
trucks. The original contract supposedly did not make blackout lighting
part of the vehicle and thus my statement. I guess I should have said they
didn't come "factory-equipped with B/O lights". They were also not
originally intended to be tactical vehicles (thus the 2-wheel drive
versions), but I agree that alot of them ended up being just that. Go
figure. I believe most though were retrofitted with blackout lights after
(or just prior to) being put into service.

Not sure, but I know the M890 (cargo) and M893 (ambulance) were both 4x2's.

In fact one of the reasons the Gov't went to the M1008 series GM's,
replacing the M880's, was because Dodge had become too prevalent in the
military vehicle contract business. Can you say "punished for being too
good?" But then, that's life.

I might as well stir up another one: Yes the 318 was nice, but too bad they
weren't offered in diesel (turbo). ;-)
