My M-37 has a 251 engine with the original radiator. Puts the fuel pump
and gas line from fuel pump to Carb a little closer to the radiator.
When I first got the truck it would run all day but vapor lock
immediately if shut off. Took from 10 mins to an hour to restart
depending on outside temp. I wrapped the fuel line in muffler
insulation and reflective material (not a pretty fix)and put some
fiberglass insulation between the fuel pump and heat shield. Added to
large batteries and have had no problems since. It does crank for a
while when hot but will always start. If the heat shield over the fuel
pump was lost during the rebuild start with that. It may be enough to
reduce heat on the fuel system.
