I have one of the MAC .50HB replicas. Depending upon what you want to
do with it will determine whether it will work for you....
It is made of about 18-20 guage sheet metal which is CNC cut. The
barrel is PVC pipe. The cocking handles and rear handles are wooden
dowels. It is, however, a very good fascimile considering the cost and
method of construction. 99 percent of the public doesn't know it isn't
real. Many knowledgeable folks don't realize it isn't real until they
are pretty close (ten feet or less). Of course, on a Scout Car, it is
fairly high when mounted, not like if on an MB where someone can easily
reach out and touch it.
The disadvantages: It is lightweight and won't take much "Rat Patrol"
treatment. I use mine on an M3A1 Scout Car for parades and displays,
etc and it works well though.
It can't be adapted to propane/gas operation. It really doesn't have a
receiver as such. It is nothing more than box. The cover opens to
reveal a flat bottom. You can belt up dummy ammo and close the cover
and it looks fairly realistic though.
The maker, Brent McClearen says in the sun the barrel may droop. I had
the Scout car at an airshow with heat in excess of 100 and it never did.
If you want it simply for show and aren't worried about it looking 100%
authentic and realistic from two feet, it will work for you, otherwise,
you might not like it.
The good news is that Brent guantees the guns. If you don't like it
when you get it, he will refund your money when you send the gun back.
