First off, I want to recommend the replicas built by Lee Hutchins of
California. They are the best I have seen. I will be ordering an M-1917A1
water-cooled .30 Calibre Heavy machine gun from him shortly. A friend has
one, and it is beautiful!!!!
Secondly, I need some help from some of the mechanical wizards. I need to
install an electric fule pump on a 1943 Dodge WC-51 Weapons Carrier (mine, in
fact!).
As much as I would love to keep the original vacuum pump, it is not reliable
(or cost efficient) for me - I drive the WC to shows all over Texas
(equivalent to all over the Northeast and Midwest combined). If I have to go
very far, I do trailer it. However, it has pulled tail-end convoy duty for a
few tanks (including a German Hetzer SPAT Gun, armored cars, half-tracks,
trucks (Axis and Allied), Kubelwagens, and even Jeeps (to keep them from
being run over by folks who *can't* see them). Plus which, I have had to
have it rebuilt a number of times the past few months.
I had another WC which had the electric fuel pump, but sold it (before I was
into MV's, you see), so I can't copy how it was done.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Purist nitpickers are not.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Robert Ratliff
