[MV] waterproofing

This is "for what its worth" info. for years I've been using some stuff
called "Deck Adhesive" It's about the consistency of Elmers Glue, & before
it dries its water soluble, but after it's impervious to anything. It was
originally marketed for pipe seizing & sealing cloth covered boat decks.
This stuff is great, I used it for my mil-veh's & around the house. You
can paint it on by its self, or use it with cloth over what you are
sealing. I found a great way to use it, is with fiberglass window screen.
It not only covers minor scratches, but once it cures no moisture will
penetrate it.
It dries almost transparent, I even use it for patching holes in canvas.
Its completely paintable, or you can mix in color additive, its also
non-toxic.
I know I sound like a salesman, but this stuff is great! The only place I
know to get it is Englund Marine Supply in Coos Bay, Oregon, its about
$25.00 a gal, less shipping. Phone (503)888-6723. Its made by the Humbolt
Paint Co in Eureka, Ca. As far as I know the only creveat is, it doesn't
like galvanized stuff, and if you completely enclose wood it has to be
absolutely dry, or the wood will rot, leaving just the shell of deck seal!
If anybody tries it, let me know what you think.
Dale
