There really were factory metal hardtops. Probably the most common one was
the arctic cab which had a rectangular, sliding back window in the cab. It
also had a headliner, although most have been removed by now.
As far as heavy-duty heater, there were three types of heaters that I'm aware
of:
(1) arctic heaters - these sit on bottom of the front fender, on the
passenger side, beneath
the Jerry can brackets. They circulate hot water through the battery
box and are used
to warm up the M37 prior to starting the engine.
(2) personnel heater - gas powered. This heater sits on the front fender,
driver's side.
(3) personnel heater - hot water. This heater occupies same space as (2).

tomorrow night. 20 Aug, 1997. A few questions: Besides factory metal hardtop
(are these really factory additions?), a heavy duty heater (what ever that
means) and a larger engine what are the major differences from the American
Model? Parts I imagine are interchangeable between the two.... Also did the
Canadian Military use these vehicles or were they manufactured for the
civilian market? Thanks in advance for any help.
