Hi Dennis,

Just thought I'd drop you a note on those MB serial numbers have. We
(Australia) had a small handover of ex-US jeeps in New Guinea during the
War, and sure enough many of them are in the same ball park as the ones
indicated in your email. Most of your jeeps were W-20453xx to W-20454xx
ranges.

As for those chassis numbers, you have 116072, we had 116042, you have
114065, we had 114086.

We both have very similar ranges with at least 12 of your jeeps, this
includes the 2 indicated above. But how about this !

You show 2046878, we have recorded 2046877. This is an MB1156xx range.

All I can tell from these Aussie jeeps is that they were very early
issue and very early handover to us, after the Americans landed in New
Guinea. Maybe your jeeps were early issue (far reaches of the the earth
type) too!

Regards,

John.
