after doing a complete tuneup i did some test runs in my m-43 and found
that it lacked
full power.it would crawl across an intersection in second with the gas
pedal almost to
the floor.and going up the slightest hill took forever! i figure my
timing must be off since
its running and idling nice but not getting the full kick from the
pistons.based on the advice
from this list i tried setting the timing at 2degrees before dc but i
could only get the mark
on the fan pulley inline with the pointer before the distibutor bracket
stopped me from turning
it further.so i was never able to set it at 2deg.bdc. so is it something
i'm doing wrong or could
there be a fault in the distributor? i'm assuming everything left of the
dc mark on the fan pulley
is 'before' and everything right is 'after'. and i'm assuming that
2deg.bdc is the right setting for
my truck.if it is'nt how can i manually set the pistons in the right
position for full power like they
used to do before timing lights.or maybe my whole diagnosis is
incorrect! any suggestions?
thanx.
