I have a "Ball & Ball" carburetor manufactured by the Chrysler Corp. on
my 1943 vintage JXD Hercules engine in a Federal truck. It won't run
smoothly unless I leave the choke part way out. Now the gas inlet
appears to be partially stripped out and fuel leaks onto the exhaust
manifold (fire hazard). Are these carbs available new or rebuilt? If
so, where? What other more recent carbs might work in place of the B&B
carb?
Also, can copper tubing be used as a gasoline line in place of the
rubber lines which eventually get soft and the steel lines which
corrode?
