I've been lurking for awhile and really enjoy this list! Hope it's OK for
a gal to drop in once-in-awhile...
The thread about sources for subs, etc., reminded me of a small cadre of
US Navy ships mothballed in Carquinez Straights near Vallejo, California.
When I was a kid I heard that John Wayne had bought and restored one and I
know the California Maritime Academy procured one of the ships as I
boarded her during restoration in 1971. Anyone know if these ships are
still there and available for purchase by private parties?
And speaking of "impossible dreams," how difficult is it to procure a WWII
relic from the aircraft graveyard in Arizona?
