I also need an MB engine cast in late May, June, or early to mid July
of 1945. I think the May 1945s were cast 5-28 but I've never seen a June
or
July engine. Also if you have an MB delivered in these months, I'd
appreciate knowing the serial number and casting date of your engine even
if it's not for sale.
One last thing, if someone has one of these two engines, still crated, I
would be willing to trade a 9-12-44 crated engine (sn # 512XXX) for the one
I need. The crate is perfect and the engine doesn't even have any dust on
it. It's always been perfectly dry so the bare metal bands don't even have
any surface rust. It would be perfect for display because of it's
condition. I don't care about the condition of the crate or cosmetic
appearance of the one I trade for because I intend to go through it and
then put it in a Jeep. (I realize it may be a piece of history but I would
think it would be happier working, rather than sitting around looking
pretty... I know I am.)
Regards,
JP
