[MV] New to List

SCHERRER, TIM (TIMS@ACADEMIC.TRUMAN.EDU)

I just joined the list today and wanted to introduce myself to everyone,
and perhaps begin networking. I am Tim Scherrer, and I live in
Kirksville, MO. I work for Truman State University (yes we are named fo
Harry), andI am a Captain in the Army Reserves based out of Quincy, IL.

I started out as a WWII reenactor in 1983 with the 6th Cav Group in
Quincy, IL. I soon joined 11th Panzer (WWIIHRS), which I've been a
member since 1984. I've been collecting uniforms, references and
equipment since 83. In the past year I decided it was time to upgrade
my collecting and get into bigger items.

I am working on 1942 GPW #42315 (with a scripted body). In the next
weeek I have some specfic questions about my GPW, but I'll save those
for another posting. Basically the vehicle will be running in the next
month, and hopefully be in decent shape by next fall.

This past weekend I purchased a Chevy 1940 1 1/2 ton. It is a YP-G-4112
dated 10 December 1940, with a serial number of 2615. I got it for a
very reasonable price. It is basically unmodified, and came with the
original rear seats and four of the five bow brackets. It isn't
running, and I intend to store it for a yar until my GPW is together. I
have questions about it as well--that I will post in another message.

I am looking to network with early GPW, and YP-G-4112 owners. Also, I
am hoping to maybe network with some local Missouri/Iowa/Illinois
people. Iwill be joining MVPA in January. I do know Carol Venable, and
several of the Armed Forces Museum people in St Louis. If that hasn't
already beencovered, the museum has lost it's location on the Charles
Melvin Price Support Center in Granite City, IL. That is where my USAR
battalion is headquartered. There was an article in the St Louis Post D
ispatch maybe three weeks ago regaring the museum.

I apologize in advance for not knowing vehicle terminology very well--I
am new into this, and not yet very mechanically inclined--but I am
learning.

Thanks in advance--Tim
