Hi Rod,
The finish on the carb is from dye. I don't know the formula/process in
detail but am sure you can find out. The general procedure is to strip the
carb and acid dip to clean all the tiny passages then dye for corrosion
resistance and appearance. I just got the new Eastwood catalog and they have
sprays to give the correct finish but I've never tried them. Maybe their
website has more info. Rather than go the cost to set up and do just one carb
we send them to a professional shop that has a reasonable rate. Some things
are just easier to pay for.
