Hi List!
I work with some consultants from South Africa who were ex-SAA. They
told me of loads of WWII Brit Beadford 15 and 30 cwts that are still
around in "civvies" with locally made replacement motors. Their cheap
cost and REAL CHEAP labor for a garage to strip and restore a truck
has gotten me quite interested.
Another fellow told me of buying a Martinni-Henry rifle of the 1880's
for around 300.00 us.
There are lots of stuff there for sale: the problem?
I have heard the US govt will not let anything ex-military into the US
(including softskins and uniforms and kit) if it may have been used by
a "terrorist" govt. (which includes SA). I hope I am wrong. Can any
one shed some light on this. Not the politics, wrong newsgroup for
that, I mean importing antique military vehicles from SA?
Thanks
Jim

The list has talked about surplus from Europe and the US, but what
happens to surplus in countires like Central America, South America and
Africa? They typical use obsolete material cast off by armies from
major powers. Since many governments don't want military surplus in the
hands of the populace what do they do with it? Curious to know.
