If you can SEE the gears, it's pretty simple.
1) Count the teeth on the ring gear & record the number
2) Count the teeth on the pinion and record.
3) Divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion gear and you have the ratio.
(if I've got this backwards, I'm sure I will get a correction very quickly)
