Hello to all

I have a 45' GPW that I want to change over to a 12 volt system
to run a SCR 193 radio set. There seem to be two ways to do this. One is to
change out the generator and charging system and to what looks to me like
having two 6 volt batteries mounted in a case between the driver and
passenger seats. The other method is to mount a 12 volt generator that runs
off a belt from a PTO mounted off the xfer case. This also is mounted between
the driver and passenger seats.
My question is , has anybody done one of these conversions and
how did it work out?. Would also like to know about any hidden pitfalls. It
would be nice to do a accurate restoration to go mobile with the radio. Any
comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thankyou
Paul
