I was trying to set the timing yesterday on my '51 M38 and two things were a
bit confusing...
I see the pointers for TDC and 5 deg before TDC, and it looks like the pulley
is marked with a drilled hole on the inside surface. If that's all correct,
then I've got trouble: timing mark is hanging about an inch and a half too
far ahead of the 5 deg mark.
Then I found the distributor nearly impossible to move. The hole for the
clamping bolt is circular -- I would think it needs to be elongated to allow
adjustment. The way it is, I can't move the timing more than a degree or
two. Grrr...
