As I recall, the M211 mil 302 engine is rated at 145 hp. The civy 302 is rated
at 160 hp. There are noteable differences on the block between the civy and mil
302. You cannot easily put a mil 302 in a CCKW or DUKW for that matter. GM put
a useless you basT*rd boss on the side of the engine where the CCKW/DUKW
starter goes. You literally have to grind the boss down/off to use the
CCKW/DUKW bellhousing. The water pump is different as I recall too. The M211
starter is mounted lower than the CCKW one.
