I had the same exact problem with my 64 m151a1. I thought one of the lifters
was bad. I took the head off and had a valve job done. The guys called me up
and told me there was excess carbon buildup in the exhaust valve. The valve
was stuck closed and would not open. When they cleaned up the head, replaced
the valves, and I put it back on the MUTT, it ran like dream. Good luck.
