It was my understanding there are two basic types of HMMWV rims and run flats.
The first type was the "bias" type, used with 36 inch tall bias ply tires and
had magnesium mesh run flat donuts. The later "radial" type, used with the 37
inch tall radial tires had solid rubber run flats. Is this right?
Other than the differences in the run flats, are there any other differences
between the bias and radial rims? I heard one style of rim was wider than the
other.
The set of rims I'm looking at have 8 studs and nuts holding the two rim
halves together. Does that make them bias rims?
Thanks for your help.
