Hi Herb,
A bit more info might help (how long since last run, condition of fluids
when removed, etc.) because it can go either way (IMHO). You could try to get
it running and if you succeed then you've saved a lot of time & money. If you
can't get it going or it doesn't run well when you do start it then nothing
lost. Parts like a timing set, oil pump, fuel pump can be reused on the
rebuild. Only the head gasket would be unusable but if you've got decent
compression (like it seems to have) then don't disturb the head just to do
the gasket. You can replace the freeze plug easy enough and since they ccome
as a set just do them all. The oil pump is easy enough to remove and
disassemble. Look for wear/scoring on the gears & housing and be sure
everything is nice and tight, no slop in the bushings/shafts/whatever and no
excessive clearances since that wastes oil pressure.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained....give it a shot.

Good Luck,
