V-35/U Truck
For General Radio Use
Navy Dept - Bureau of Ships
The serial tag in the engine compartment on the left side of the firewall
says:
CJV-35
10695
The only thing about the body that sticks out to me is that the hood has
WILLYS stamped into the sides. I can't remember if the military jeeps ever
had that.
Does anyone have any info on these jeeps: How many were made? Were they
just civilian Jeeps sold to the navy under contract? What type of radio
was commonly used? Are there manuals around for this vehicle or would I
just use the M38, M38A1, or CJ5 manual?
Also, does anyone know of anyone in the Southeastern United States who
could get it running? (I'm more than busy enought with my '44 MB, building
a house, 120 mile daily commute, etc.) He thinks it only needs a tune
up/going over(I imagine more). It has been kept inside since he bought it
in the early 1970's. It condition is truly disgusting-not a spot of rust
anywhere. He did however repaint it & add civilian front seats in the late
1970's.
Thanks,
Brian Mead

'44 MB
'4? GPW
P.S. don't worry about asking if it's for sale. My wife & I begged him for
it for about 8 years to no avail. I finally had to buy the '44 MB to
fulfill my dream of owning a jeep. (I'm glad I got the '44 now that I think
his is a civilian model)
