Could anyone tell me about the different types of original taillights used
on Canadian Military Pattern C15 (Blitz) short wheelbase trucks?
I have seen one F15 with a one piece steel tray back that had a rectangular
vertical plate attached to the bottom of the tray at each rear corner.
These were just in from each side and had rounded corners on the bottom
edge with two "pencil" lights in each plate. These were of the same type as
the ones found on the front mudguards.
My C15 (1943) has a different type of steel tray (although I acquired this
separately from the rest of the truck which had been converted to a farmers
flatbed truck), being made up with the floor and sides being bolted
together and clamps for pioneer tools on each side. I cannot tell if it
originally had tailights or not. Two other examples of this type of tray
that I have seen on restored vehicles did not have anything resembling
original tailights either.
Did this type of tray not have tailights? Were they a different type or
mount differently?
Did this change over time? (I have one parts catalogue that specifically
lists Tailight Assembly Pre-1942). Was there a difference between Ford and
Chevrolet manufactured CMP vehicles of this type?
Any help would be appreciated,
Martyn
