Hi Tom, you are probably right about the cluster gear, and if it has
been operated that way for any length of time the mating gear on the
mainshaft could be a bit iffy as well, not to mention the bits of metal
sloshing round the gearbox oil and bearings... I'd plan on buying a
secondhand gearbox, giving it a check over, and fitting it with a new
clutch plate while you have the box out, might look like more work but
it would be the easier option in the long run. Gordon 8-)
