I've been to look for a Command Car, and found a Chevrolet K43, and the
last 'Weasel' I went to look at turned out to be an Atkinson Alligator
(larger, post-war, British, rare, ugly - used for retreiving test
missiles) In Britain a 'jeep' isn't always American - the common
mistake is to refer to an Austin Champ or a Land Rover as a jeep, or
conversely to inform the public at large that the jeep "had a
Rolls-Royce engine" (the Champ did)
Follow enough false trails and a gem turns up occasionally, last year I
went to check up on a CJ3B for a friend and found two GPWs in the same
garage which I will be bidding on sometime soon. At the risk of
re-starting a pointless thread I would really like to find a jeep in an
original crate, but probably the only way would be to make a crate and
put one in it. 8-)
