Dear List,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a civilian vehicle with axles similar
to the M-715's. What I want to do is replace the hubs on my M-715 with one
from a civilian vehicle. The reason being is because I want disk brakes and
civilian tires & rims (NDT isn't the greatest on wet asphalt.)
I'm also curious as too how people have re-geared their M-715's. My truck
revs. at 3000rpms going 45 mph. The original engine has been replaced with
a 327. I've got custom headers. I'm not sure what kind of transmission or
what kind of gearing. My transfer case is original and is geared at 1.98:1.
Also I believe the axles are originals and geared at 5.87:1. What I want is
a granny gear and the ability to drive on the freeway (65mph at 2500-3000
rpm's.)
I would also like locking differentials or air lockers (limited slip just
doesn't cut it). I hate being beat up a hill by a Toyota because of loss of
traction.
All in all I probably can't afford all of these modifications but I can
dream ; )
