>From my conversations with a retired motor pool warrent officer; the spare
tire radio mount was preferred due to the lessening of the drivers damaging
the vehicle by running into trees and other immovable objects. However, he
also indicated that they were few in number and very hard to get. The same
situation seems to prevail on the surplus market. The MP50 is all over the
place, but I rarely see the spare tire mount advertised for sale.
