On the M35 series, they were made by a number of people; Reo, Studebaker,
Curtis Wright, Kaiser, AM General, etc.
Now is a great time to buy an M35 as many have been rebuilt then sold at
auction (Your tax $$ at work).
The term 'deuce and a half' came from the trucks cross country carrying
capacity 2.5 tons. All US military trucks are rated this way. The carrying
capacity is usually double on paved roads.
The US army got rid of the CCKW's in 1956 so they have been out of service with
the US for a long time. The M135/211 followed pretty closely. The Canadians
liked them. The US went with the M35.
One item common to all, OK you have to modify a CCKW a little, the canvas tarp
will start to get scarce soon and will probably become expensive. They are
already changing over to plastic tarps like the M151
