I recently read that there were about 3000 airborne versions of the
3/4-ton Weapons Carriers built in 1944-45. I would imagine these
vehicles were similar to the airborne GMC's which had a split chassis
but I don't recall having seen or heard anything about these trucks.
There were some experiments done during the war to carry vehicles
underneath cargo planes but these were never put into practical use,
as far as I know. Fred Crismon's book has a photo of a 6x6 Dodge
equipped in this fashion but I have never seen a photo of an airborne
3/4 tonner of any type? Has any list-member seen a photo of one or
better yet, an actual vehicle?
On another subject, I am currently looking for the circular wiring
junction block that fits in the firewall of the 3/4 ton Weapons
Carriers. The Dodge Part Number is 925362. A NOS one would be nice
but a good used example would suffice. Let me know if you can help.

David Robinson. Brisbane. Australia.
