I have a useful publication entitled "Notes on MT Administration"issued by
The War Office November 1954.
This Publication details a good summarisation of a variety of A.C.I and
A.O's from 1940 to 1954 with specific reference to the 1950's. It covers
Vehicle markings, Bridge classifications, Vehicle Lighting, Drivers
Qualifications, Traffic Regulations, Use of WD Vehicles, and a variety of
other stuff.
I have found it a good reference guide for those funny questions like -
where should I paint my Unit sign, and what size - also - Temporary markings
for new WD Vehicles and requisitioned vehicles (never seen a vehicle at a
show painted as such yet!) - what does a "T" in a white ring mean on the N/S
drivers cab.
There is also some interesting stuff about use of Military vehicles to
collect Beer, attend Sunday school and maximum permitted annual mileage.
Classification of Wheeled Amphibious Vehicles was based on total quantity of
fuel consumed since entering WD service or rebuild rather than by Mileage
covered.
I recommend this as a book for the shelf if you ever see it.
I may be able to provide info should it be required, however since I do not
posses a scanner and OCR software, info will be rather limited.
Some of this publication is of use to the vehicle restorer, the rest to the
historian.
Regards
Tim Bell
