A 60% grade is the same as climbing 60 feet in elevation for every 100 feet of
horizontal distance, or 6 feet for every 10 feet, or 0.6 feet (7.2 inches) for
every foot.
Of course, traction is a major factor to be considered. A vehicle may very
well be able to climb a 60% grade all day long under ideal conditions (such as
vehicle manufacturers' test tracks!), but the "real world" can be quite
different.
