If you don't use the $5.00/yr. method and continue with normal full =
registration, the State of California also requires proof of insurance =
before registration papers are issued. So if you don't use your vehicle =
in a year it is very expense.

I'm not from California and the more I hear about the crap you guys have =
to
contend with; BMV, weather, mud slides, smog, LA, earth quakes, ..... =
the
easier it is to contend with the lousy weather in the midwest.
However, why would anybody register a vehicle for $5.00/yr if it isn't
taken on the road. Here in the midwest, if you don't take a vehicle on
the road, you don't have to pay anybody for anything other than perhaps =
a
title transfer and sales tax if you want to keep the title clean. If you
don't retitle a vehicle since you are going to only off road it anyway,
then you can put off transferring the title until you want to and you =
will
have to pay a penalty of $5.00. Is the $5.00 registration so that you =
can
drive on public lands off road?? Do the farmers out there have to =
register
their tractors to plow their fields? =20
If it makes you feel better, it's about 32 degrees now, the high was 38
today. (;->)

registration fees. I register some of my vehicles this way which
I don't run on public roads. It saves lots of $$$$$.<
