Hi list,
A collector who owns and flies a P-51 and a Spitfire (!) who is not
on-line has asked me to locate a Panther, Tiger or Pz KwIII or IV or
the like, for him to buy for his collection and operation.
Anyone who can own and fly a P-51 as well as bring a Spitfire back
from Indonesia and have new wings built for it along with the
restoration has some idea of what he is getting himself into with the
scarcity of the vehicle, the logistics of fetching it home and cost of
restoring and maintaining one.
It's WAYYYYYYY out of my league. I'm not looking for a finders fee,
but if I find one for him, I have a spot as crew.(I'm a dyed in the
wool British reenactor, but that's tempting enough for me to add some
Panzer black to my collection of British Khaki!)
If you are a private collector with something that might interest my
friend, Send photos and the particulars to :

If you represent a museum that might be willing to De-access one,
contact me.
If you have one to trade, let me know what your needs are and contact
me.
If you know someone in your area who has one waiting for a restoration
"some day" and think they might be persuaded to part with it to see it
restored, contact me.
Truthfully, I would guess my best hunting will be in Europe. Bringing
something the size of a Panzer back to the US would not slow up my
friend. But it has to be something worthwhile. He is not interested in
T-34s, Scorpions, Shermans, Churchills and certainly not Ferrets! (I
would be, but if I had his money, I would look for bigger British
armour!)
I can not make any promises for my friend about finders fees. I can't
even promise "a cut" from mine as all I am asking for is a crew
position. I suppose if you wanted, we could take turns as crew.
If you would like to see a tank like this restored and attending
events, I hope you will help me locate one.
Thanks folks
Cheers
Jim
