[MV] Info. of a 2.5 ton

I find myself in the position that I promised to help a family friend find
out whatever he can on the 2 1/2 ton truck that he has recently acquired.
The vehicle is (according to the the data plates) a 1952 M-45 6X6 2 1/2
ton with the winch manufactured by Studebaker.
I believe that it originally had a soft top over driver and passenger
(currently has a metal top there) can anybody verify that?
Also what would the original bed of been like (and where can one be
acquired?) I think when he picked it up it had a flat bed on it that he
has since pulled off.
The data plates listed a few other vehicles in the series but I didn't
write them down (however that info can be acquired if necessary)
Any and all information on this type of vehicle would be appreciated.
