[MV] GPW details

I have a few questions concerning small details on my April 1943 GPW.
First, I have a paint color question. I know this topic was discussed
over a year ago, but I can't seem to recall if there was ever a concensus
on it:
The USA registration number when a GPW came from the factory was BLUE
DRAB until when? I have seen pictures of some vehicles with blue drab in
Europe. I have seen other pictures where the blue drab was overpainted
(somewhat sloppily) with white. Still other pictures have white USA reg
numbers with no evidence of a blue drab number underneath. I just want
to know which is "most correct" for my GPW.

On to the second question:
On some intake manifolds, there are two plugs, located at the bends of
the manifold. I assume these are for vacuum-driven devices, such as w/s
wipers. My jeep manual shows this type of manifold in the engine
section, but the manual is reprinted from a 1944-vintage TM. I have one
of these manifolds and I also have an earlier manifold that has no ports
(just smooth bends). When did the change in maifold design take place?

Question 3:
The engine I am using in my GPW is a 1942-vintage (GPW 8****). The
crankcase ventilation "system" consists only of a tube coming out of the
valve cover that points toward the ground (fits between a stamped
spot-welded "fork"). I have also seen crankcase
ventilation that is recycled up to the intake through a steel tube. When
did this change take place?

Again, I just want to make sure the details for my jeep are as correct as
I can make them. Any insight would greatly be appreciated! Sorry
for the long message.
