Hi everybody,

Anybody know anything about the M22 'Locust' Light Airborne Tank? I'm
looking for any and all kinds of information - especially technical
designs, diagrams, manuals etc. - for a serious restoration project.

Of this tank (16,000 Lb) approx. 860 were built in 1942-1945 by
Marmon-Herrington (GMC). 260 were sent to the United Kingdom and took part
in operations in North Africa, Normandy and the crossing of the Rhine
(March 24, 1944).

Currently, there seem not to be any of these tanks left in reasonably
authentic condition - inside AND out - in the world.
We have acquired 2 of these tanks without turrets, but with the original
Lycoming 6-cilinder light-weight aircraft engines. In running order! More
or less . . .
Our aim is to restore at least one of these tanks with the highest possible
degree of authenticity to its original specs (with decommissioned
armaments, of course).
This rebuilt tank is intended to take part in the 1999 Normandy invasion
reenactment, where, originally, they were landed behind enemy lines by
Hamilcar glider planes.

I would really appreciate it if anybody can point me to more info on the
M22. Of any kind. Most interesting would be to find a turret, of course.
For purchase, but if that is not possible we hope to closely examine one
for replication. But first we must find one!
Do you know of an M22 turret somewhere?

Bi,
