Carbon Tetrachloride is very dangerous stuff. It is linked to several
types of cancers, especially liver cancer. It has wide applications in
commercial chemistry, as a solvent, and is quickly absorbed through the
skin. It also hangs around your system for quite a while, so any body who
had long term exposure to it should watch their other cancer risk factors.
One time exposure to an old fire extinguisher is not the same as dipping
your arms in a vat of the stuff several times a day. But with my family
history of cancer, I'd avoid it just the same.
