As quite correctly posted to the list, this usage of the word
came about from Julius Caesar's time and was applied, in context,
in California; whoever chose the name must have paid attention
during his school history lessons.
Thanks to everyone who replied both through mil-veh and
privately.
The response was impressive, but please stop before I get
chastised by Arthur for swamping his band width with an
off topic subject.
