I had the same problem on my M38A1 which came to me with a stablizer shock on
the tie rods. A mechanic friend told me to remove the stablizer shock because
it was an indicator of problems else where in the steering system. Check (in
addition to tire balance) the following items: all tie-rod ends, drag-link
adjustment, steering knuckle bearings (upper and lower), and steering knuckle
flange caps (upper and lower). I did a complete steering overhaul and so far
haven't expierenced the problem.
