I have a friend that is a very hardcore authentic WWII reenactor friend
that is also an aspiring actor (has had several appearances on several
CA based TV shows). He was a bit part actor in Saving Private Ryan and
assures me that it is going to be an outstanding movie....high quality
for accuracy on both uniforms and historical content even though the
storyline is ficticious.

Two other high quality reenactors/vendors that both provided uniforms
and equipment for the movie also confirm the movie is going to be a
blockbuster.

Other pre-release reviews indicate Spielberg is quite a stickler for
details and accuracy. Tom Hank's waived a salary for a percentage of
the profits...he must think it is going to be highly successful.

All that aside, if we all want to see more WWII and/or other era quality
movies made, GO SEE "Saving Private Ryan" on opening weekend. It is the
opening weekend that really counts in the ratings.

In addition to Saving Pvt Ryan, another movie in the making is "The Thin
Red Line" about WWII pacific operations in Guadalcanal, I believe. I
can't recall the names at the moment, but there were several big names
included. Again, the same vendors comments were that it going to be
good.

Yet another couple of friends connected with the film industry report
there are several other WWII movies "waiting in the wings" if these two
are successful.

Apologies to Arthur for being off topic, but thought this would be of
interest to the list. If we see more military movies made, our services
with our vehicles will be in demand. The Oklahoma Film Commission has
already asked for a portfolio of my groups vehicles for possible use in
films within the state.
