Tim,
To buy or not depends on his situation as far as having a shop,
tools, welder and etc., if he's going to restore it. Might be
a good investment for the parts. I don't think you'll find an
F marked M-38 transmission. The WWII Jeep trans and the
M38 are two very different critters.
