I have converted several 24 Volt vehicles to 12 volt, including a M38A1 and
M170. If you want them to work, you will have to replace your gauges and the
sending units. I used Stewart Warner gauges which look very close to the
original gauges. The fuel tank sending unit can be replaced with a model from
JC Whitney for 414.95 and it fits perfectly. I would use a GM style one-wire
alternator for ease of conversion and suggest protecting the system with a
fuse block.
