Rather than running a lossy DC-to-DC converter to get the 24v, it may be
possible to modify the power supply stage of the intercom unit to run
adequately on 12v. The possibility depends on the design. Do you have a
detailed schematic of the intercom system? If you could scan it and send it
to me, I'll have a look. Alternately, fax or mail a copy...
