Thanks for all your advice on my battle with rusty and stuck nuts and stu=
ds
on my 52 M-37 during the exhaust and then the intake manifold replacement=
session. For the most part the best attack is plenty of liquid wrench, a=
torch and a bunch of *&&$#^&#*$!!. =
I did find several items that were very helpful beside a case of beer. I=
bought a set of "Flare wrenchs" from Sears. These things are really
designed to go around brake lines etc and still grab the nut. They are c=
ut
on one end but still have more grab surface than a box end. Just what the=
inside manifold nuts needed.
The other neat gizmo also from Sears is a Stud Remover. Metal hockey puc=
k
looking device with a 1/2 drive socket and a grooved wheel to lock the st=
ud
shaft when you put it through the hole in the remover. $23.00. Worth it.=
=
I would have locked two nuts down but some sheared off where the threads
start during removal.
I was going to get a set of "Robo Grips" to go after the studs but once I=
explained what I was trying to do the guy said you need one of these dude=
s.
Worked as advertised.
Got it put back together today just in time to be off to Iola WI MV
gathering. =
Thanks again. Hope to see some of you at the meet this weekend.
Regards,
