One thing to watch out for on trailers is the weight. In NH, the max allowed
weight without brakes is 3,000 lbs. My 1945 Buffalo-Springfield water buffalo
weighs 3495 when full of water (when I take it to the Annual Weare Rally and
other camping trips) and has no brakes other than the usual parking brake.
In NH earlier this summer I helped get passed by the legislature a law that was
signed into law that allows for the registering of trailers as antiques. Now,
antique rules (OEM equipment; i.e no brakes in this case) apply.
