D-6's
are usually used by the ranchers around here as a firebreak dozer, and ar=
e
considered to be in the medium to small range.

All the dozers I have ever seen on any of our road projects are at least =
a
D-8
size, except for the finish dozers (usually D-4 to D-5 sizes).

Most of the military dozers I have come across are D-8 size. They are us=
ed
for everything the contractors use a dozer for, including as a transport
vehicle.

Well, you know what they say about Texas, things are bigger there....... =
=

Sorry, I couldn't resist. =

Actually smaller dozers are being used all of the time in Indiana. I don=
't
know why. Even on big jobs, they are using smaller dozers with say 8-10 =
ft
blades and large earthmovers. I drive a lot and that seems to be the
trend in the Midwest. I remember seeing the bigger dozers with 14 ft
blades, etc years ago, but not many times since. But they aren't cutting=

many new roads anymore either, mostly improvements, new ramps, etc. They=

don't cut out many hillsides any longer around here.
