I really do not understand all this hullabaloo on the 151 Electronic
ignitions. I had over 60 151 family vehicles at Fort Carson--and drove the
same one for over 16,000 miles. NEVER had a failure on the ignitions.
(coils-yes) Keep them dry and clean. Be sure no water or oil gets on them. I
they are set up wrong--too close with the pickup coil (not the big 24 volt
coil) they will burn up. Take off the cap and put a bead of silicone grease
on the rubber o'ring seal. Sounds like bad maintenance or
assembly--especially if it was "home" installed. 1SG PANTANO
