Bob,

I found several pictures with information on AFKX-352's in Fred Crimson's
book US Military Wheeled Vehicles. Unfortunately, no data on the over-all
height. However, in the section on 6x6's, the AFKWX-353 (which uses the
same basic cab and running gear) is listed with a 111 inch over-all height
to the top of the cab. In comparison of the two pictures, it is obvious the
roof of the AFKX extends substantially above the top of the windshield,
which is basically where the top of the cab is on the AFKWX. How much it
extends above the 111 inch measurement is impossible to tell from the
photograph.

It was interesting to note that apparently there were both early and late
style shop bodies on the AFKX, and the late bodies were taller, maybe by a
foot or so. If yours is an early model, it may fit inside a 10 foot tall
building. Hard to tell without actually measuring the truck.

Of course, don't forget about things like needing to jack it up to work on
it and interference from light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, etc..

A related question for the list. I thought I understood GMC's numbering
system: 352 indicated short wheelbase and 353 indicated long wheelbase.
When an X was used it indicated a longer than normal chassis. I was
surprised to find the X used with 352. If you have a longer than normal
chassis on a short wheelbase truck, don't you now have a long wheelbase
truck?
