Hello everyone,
On my 42-gpw is a data plate mounted above the steering column. It is 7"
by 2.25", and made of alum. . States the following:
vehicle - truck, 1/4 ton, 4x4, command
reconnaissance.
w/ring mount w/o ring mt over all length
132 1/4 in overall width 62 in
overall height 69 3/4 lowest operable
height 52 in shipping cubic
331 cu ft shipping tonnage 8.28 tons
Is this correct tag and placement for ww2? It was secured by screws.

Next I have a series of holes where data plates were mounted on dash to
right of hand brake . 1st, 1/8 holes in 5 3/16 x 1 3/16 inch pattern .
Then top right hole was drilled out to 3/16 and three more holes in a 2
7/8 x 1 1/2 pattern were drilled to mount a plate over where the first
one had been.
Any ideas of what happened here?
Thank you.
