When I restored my MB and rebuilt the motor years ago, I also had a
problem like yours. The carb kept flooding. The culprit was the new fuel
pump having too much pressure. I used a pressue gauge and had to shim
the pump away from the block with several gaskets to lower the pressure.
That was a long time ago and I forget the correct pump pressure.
